We have taken the plunge and purchased a number of books to introduce the issue of climate change to our young children. We were a bit torn on this as ultimately there is not much they can do about it, that is up to us now and our generation to make the best of a bad situation.
But, climate change and the climate crisis will only become more and more the focus of all our lives going forward, and it would seem wise to at least to make them aware and start to educate them on the climate crisis, its causes, and its growing impact on the world.
Time will tell if this will be the right decision. Our hope is that by the time our kids are our age, we will have well and truly curtailed emmissions and put the world back on course to a stable footing.
The Usborne books are always great – well written and illustrated – and so these have been purchased to provide a good foundation.
A big winner with our youngest has been ‘Greta and the Giants’. Loosely based on the story of Greta Thunberg, it is a great way of introducing the problem to younger minds in the fashion of a story and is an overall great book! ??
